Pictures of the house

We're having some work done in "our" formal dining room and foyer, and I thought I'd share the progress with a few pictures. I took them this morning, after I'd fed my children breakfast and before everyone else in the house was awake (What is wrong with this?!).

There are a few things left to do before the work is done. A couple area rugs will go down on the dining room floor. Some additional trim painting is needed in the foyer; and that paper on the floor in the foyer is because the floor needs one last coat of sealer, which won't be until Monday. Y'all should come and check it out...maybe sometime this next week.

Gorgeous!

Hooray for posting some nearly-after pictures! (My sis sent depictions of the chaos that went before).

Your Talmudic quote is cute...
(that doesn't sound right).

It's a very piquant and learned quotation, sir.

WOWZA. Fantastically beautiful! I suppose the sacrifice that we made of being Adams-less down here for longer than we are comfortable with has yielded acceptable fruit.

Now please tell me that they are going to hang up a different picture in the front hall over the magazine table... The old one with the horse drawing the sledge full of old firewood was too depressing and in my opinion it should GO. I just think it would be a crime to try and foist it back into this spiffy, new environment. But then, I'm not on the care committee...so I know I don't really have a say...

Claire...my sentiments exactly...and as far as I know, said picture will not be returned to its former glory.

Is that all original wood flooring that was under the carpet or was new flooring installed?

It looks fantastic either way.

triple9 - I don't know if its "the original", i.e. 100 year old original, but it is what was under the carpet. We didn't have new flooring installed.
