A parent's worst nightmare

So, the boys came in the other day and said that they had been playing out in the church parking lot. With the backhoe. Ur..um...okay...

I went out to take a look and was quite startled by what they had done:

Ha, ha! The boys didn't do this, although I bet they wish they could have. Uncle Gerry did it, on purpose - intentionally, in preparation for re-paving.

A Hard Landing

Since there is a cat who lives (or frequents) my neighborhood, from time-to-time I will see a large collection of feathers on the lawn, where it appears as though some formerly winged creature met its demise in an epic struggle with said cat, or something equally formidable to birds. Jonathon stumbled upon one of these battle scenes the other day, and his conclusion, while theoretically possible, I suppose, was altogether far more amusing to contemplate.

(Said, as is the case with everything that proceeds from his mouth, in a raised voice and excited tone:) "I found a bunch of feathers down there, Daddy...they're all over the place. Some bird must have had a really hard landing."

Want to live in a barn...

...down by the river? We have been having some work done on our barn, which we affectionately refer to as the "Dining Hall". Since it is not too often that one sees the Dining Hall sans windows, I took a few quick pics the other day.

The windows have been removed to accomodate re-glazing and re-painting:

The outside wall is also being painted:

The interior hallway is also being re-painted and, thanks to our safety-conscious fire code, it is being covered in fire-retardant paint (read: $$$$).

We are also having some work done in the Sanctuary...but you'll just have to come and see that for yourself. :)
